My name is Elena Sica Mosher and I am a senior here at West Senior High. Next fall I plan to attend a university and study global/cultural studies and Spanish to get involved with non-profit work in developing countries. I am really excited to be a part of the Community Outreach Council this year, and helping to plan Homeward Bound has been a blast. It has been a great experience connecting with organizations in the community, and I am happy to be doing something hands-on to help people in Traverse City.
Hi, my name is Katie Carmichael and I am a senior this year at Traverse City West Senior High. Community service is a big part of who I am. I am a member of National Honor Society and President of Key Club. And this year, I had the opportunity to join a great group of other student leaders in this Community Service Advisory. The planning and facilitating of this event has been a great experience for me. I love helping others and seeing the positive outcomes that come from volunteering. Sometimes I feel like the reason that I volunteer is a selfish one. I have to admit, I love the feeling that I receive when I know the job is done, and it is done well. It puts a smile to my face knowing that I can change the world, even if it takes one volunteer opportunity at a time. Galatians 6:10a says, “So then, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to everyone.” I have the opportunity and so do you. Together, we can do good to everyone and change the world.
My name is Daniel, and I am an 11th grade student at Traverse City West Senior High School. I have always been interested in community service, and I am glad that that this group has given me an opportunity to put together an organized project of this scale. I am also a percussionist in the Wind Ensemble, and I play mandolin as well. Some of my other interests include hiking, camping, writing, and reading.
Hey, I’m Teague. I’m the one who does most of (probably all of) the writing on this blog! I’m in the 11th grade here at scenic West Senior High, and I really like planning stuff. Volunteering and getting involved in the community has kind of been a no-brainer for me most of my life (it’s fun) so this project sounded like a great idea! Although I had no idea what I signed up for initially, this has been an interesting and tough but worthwhile experience. I’m a freelance writer and do a lot of Theatre here at West!
My name is Erica Whiting, and I am a junior at TC West. I’m so excited about this event! I think it is really important for our school to reach out to the community like this, and it’s been an awesome experience so far! I am also a part of the the West basketball, soccer, and golf teams, and can be found reading or watching Netflix in my spare time.
